Premier League side Newcastle United have finally come out of the clutches of their previous owner Mike Ashley as Saudi-backed Public Investment Fund have formally completed the takeover of the club.

The new owners are expected to make a host of changes to the club, starting with the dismissal of Steve Bruce and the arrival of a new sporting director.

And while these changes will go on behind the curtains, the new owners have also promised the fans that they will do all they can to revive the side and take them to new heights.

Amanda Staveley, Chief Executive Officer of PCP Capital Partners, said, as per the official statement: “This is a long-term investment. We are excited about the future prospects for Newcastle United.

“We intend to instill a united philosophy across the Club, establish a clear purpose, and help provide leadership that will allow Newcastle United to go on to big achievements over the long term.

“Our ambition is aligned with the fans – to create a consistently successful team that’s regularly competing for major trophies and generates pride across the globe.”

Trying to sign big names like Kylian Mbappe, Lionel Messi and Erling Haaland obviously is the dream for all the Newcastle United fans but as of now, the PIF is expected to make realistic signings during the January transfer window.

As per the calculations, the Magpies will have a really massive budget during the middle of the season mainly due to their former owner’s reluctance to spend money in the market. This is why they could go out and spend big in January.

We take a look at some of the players who could be signed by Newcastle United during the January transfer window.

Philippe Coutinho(FC Barcelona):

The former Liverpool man has been having a horrible time in Spain and he’s more than willing to return to the Premier League at the start of the new year.

Arsenal and Spurs are expected to make a move to sign Coutinho during the January window but the two North London clubs could miss out if Newcastle United show an interest in the Brazilian.

Alexandre Lacazette(Arsenal):

Arsenal forward Alexandre Lacazette has fallen down the pecking order at the club during the ongoing season and so far, he’s played in 31 minutes in the Premier League.

The Gunners will have no problem in letting the Frenchman join the Magpies, given they are willing to offer decent money.

Franck Kessie(AC Milan):

Kessie has been one of the standout players for Milan in the previous few years but right now he’s refusing to sign a new deal with the Rossoneri.

We can very well see him become the new midfield general at St James’ Park.

Aaron Ramsey(Juventus):

Ramsey is another player whose career has taken a nosedive ever since he moved out of Arsenal and joined Juventus.

Like Coutinho, he’s also itching to come back to England and Newcastle United can certainly offer him that lifeline.

Ousmane Dembele(Barcelona):

Ousmane Dembele has been previously linked with EPL clubs like Man United and recently he’s being seen as an alternative to Raheem Sterling at Manchester City.

His career at Barcelona is going nowhere and given the financial problems that Barca are facing, they will be more than happy to let him join Newcastle United. It remains to be seen if Man City will challenge the Magpies or not.

Lautaro Martinez(Inter Milan):

Martinez’s future at Inter is also uncertain and while he is ready to put pen on paper to a new deal but the club are yet to make any concrete move.

NUFC might have to sweat it out to sign him during the January transfer window but he’ll surely be worth every penny.

Donny van de Beek(Man United):

Donny has failed to break into the Manchester United first-team this season and we are more than confident that he has no future at the club anymore.

Ole will be more than happy to cash in on him at the start of the new season but we will have to wait and see if United will be ready to sell him to a direct rival.

Jesse Lingard(Man United):

West Ham United failed to sign Jesse Lingard on a permanent deal during the summer but almost every pundit is confident that Moyes will try once again in January.

But this time around, Newcastle United could stand in their way and it will take very little to price out the Hammers from this deal.

James Tarkowski (Burnley):

The Burnley pro will be a free agent in January so he could turn out to be a really cheap buy for the Magpies. While he will not particularly be a world-class buy but the England-capped player can certainly steady the ship for one or two seasons.

Callum Hudson-Odoi (Chelsea):

Chelsea’s huge squad depth has really affected the forward this season and he could be available on a loan deal as the Blues misfit is itching to get more game time.

Ross Barkley(Chelsea):

The 27-year-old is suffering a similar problem to Hudson-Odoi and with players like Kovacic, Kante and Loftus-Cheek ahead of him in the pecking order, it will only be sensible for him to head out in January.

His current deal with Chelsea expires in 2023 so Newcastle United will have to shell out some decent amount to bring him on board.

Anthony Martial(Man United):

Anthony Martial has failed to live up to the hype at Manchester United and this season he’s fallen down the pecking order after the arrival of Cristiano Ronaldo.

He’s been previously linked with Tottenham and Daniel Levy might try and sign him in January as a backup to Harry Kane. Arsenal have also been eyeing him as the long-term replacement to Lacazette and even Mikel Arteta might make a formal offer in January.

But if the latest reports are to be believed then both these clubs are going to suffer a major setback since Newcastle United have already made contact with Man United over the potential signing of the forward.
