Newcastle United have gotten new owners and any day now the current bosses are going to sack Steve Bruce and bring in a new manager. And for obvious reasons, the next Newcastle United manager list is perhaps the most talked about topic in the English football scene right now.

Steve Bruce is still somehow holding onto his job but the PIF are not going to carry on with him for the long term. The new owners are taking their time to choose the next Newcastle United manager as several reports are claiming that they want to bring in someone who can take charge for at least the next four to five seasons.

Several names have been popping up ever since the takeover was announced but recent updates have managed to clear most of the clutter.

The ones who’ve rejected the job:

The first big news is that Antonio Conte is not interested in becoming the next Newcastle United manager as he is not keen to take up a rebuilding job.

The former Chelsea man wants to take charge of a side who are ready to challenge for titles asap and as per reports, the new NUFC bosses have failed to convince him.

The Italian had left Inter Milan because he felt they wouldn’t be able to challenge for silverwares this time around so there’s very little chance of heading to St James’ Park.

Brendan Rodgers is another manager who has rejected this lucrative job offer as he remains loyal to Leicester City. A few seasons ago, Rodgers had jumped boats in an instance to come to the King Power from Celtic but he’s not willing to do the same this time around.

He has a great relationship with the Leicester owners which he’s not ready to jeopardise.

Next Newcastle United manager: The one’s who’re still in the running

According to The Times, Steven Gerrard is one of the candidates who is leading the race to become the next Newcastle United manager.

Gerrard has done exceptional work with Rangers over the past few seasons and St James’ Park will be the next logical step-up for the Liverpool legend.

Several pundits feel Stevie G will not leave the Gers to come to Newcastle but the reports are clearly suggesting otherwise.

Gerrard will be itching to manage a Premier League side and if NUFC do come calling then it will take minutes for him to start packing his bags.

Former Arsenal boss Unai Emery is another name on the shortlist. The Spaniard is currently managing Villarreal and he has unfinished business in England.

He failed to assert his dominance in the EPL with Arsenal and if Newcastle United give him another shot, he is likely to accept it with open arms.

Roberto Martinez is also amongst the favourites in the next Newcastle United manager list but this one is a bit complex since he’s currently managing Belgium and he’s not expected to leave before the 2022 World Cup.

Frank Lampard is another man who’s name has been doing the rounds and as per some bookmakers, he’s amongst the favourites for the job right now. He did a solid job with Chelsea, especially during a crisis period and he could be the perfect man for a restructuring job with the Magpies.

Steven Bruce is not going to remain at the helm for much longer but PIF are giving a feeling that they will not sack him until they confirm the next Newcastle United manager.

Teams like PSG and Man City took some time before they got their managerial candidate spot on and it seems like the Magpies bosses are not ready to make the same mistakes.
