Chelsea and Arsenal have been keeping tabs on Cagliari’s Nicolo Barella for some time now but the midfielder might have slipped away – as per rumours.

Nicolo Barella came up through the youth system at Cagliari and during the 2018-19 season, the 22-year-old has been one of the standout performers for the Italian side.

The Gunners have lost Aaron Ramsey to Juventus on a free transfer which means Emery will have to pay money out of is own pocket to bring in a replacement. And that replacement was supposed to be Nicolo Barella.

Chelsea might also lose Mateo Kovacic who is on loan from Real Madrid and Sarri had urged his club to sign the Cagliari midfielder as a direct replacement.

But now though it seems like both teams are set to miss out on him.

If reports are to be believed then Nicolo Barella has already agreed on terms with Inter Milan – his dream club, and hence he will not accept any more offers.

“There have been concerns that because of this the deal would fall through, but actually there is optimism on both sides,” as reported by Rome based newspaper Corriere dello Sport(via Sempreinter)

“Inter will pay part cash and insert a Primavera player or players to make up for the rest.

“Cagliari are interested in Esposito, Bastoni and Eder but the Nerazzurri do not want to repeat the Zaniolo case, therefore the first two are out of the question.

“Also, Eder’s contract with Jiangsu Suning is too expensive for Cagliari to take on.”

“So, Inter could offer Merola, Gavioli or Colidio instead. The first two would also make some capital gains but it remains to be known if Cagliari are interested.”

Nicolo Barella has already agreed on terms with Inter Milan and now the only thing left to do is discuss a transfer fee between both the clubs.

Once that is sorted the central midfielder will be officially announced by Inter Milan.
