Rangers FC centre-back Nikola Katic has been working really hard to return from a cruciate ligament injury and there’s a big chance he could move out on loan, as per the latest reports.

According to Croatian Football News, Serie A side Spezia Calcio are interested in signing the 24-year-old Croatian international on a loan deal for the upcoming campaign.

They wrote on Twitter: “Glasgow Rangers defender Nikola Katic is working hard to return after an injury.

“In the meantime some clubs like Italian side Spezia have shown interest to bring him on loan.”

Will Gerrard allow Nikola Katic to leave on loan?

The injury has really pushed Nikola Katic down the pecking order and he is currently below defenders like Connor Goldson, Filip Helander and Leon Balogun.

Given the amount of time he has been out of action, we doubt if the centre-back will be able find a regular spot in the playing XI next season and this might help Spezia take him up on loan.

In a recent interview, Katic has made it clear that he is happy with life at Rangers and is ready to get back his spot. But going to the Italian top division will not be a bad move for the 24-year-old either.

During the 2020-21 season, Nikola Katic did not play even a single game for Rangers and Steven Gerrard has found a way to play without him. So even if he is a 100% fit, the defender will take a really long time to win back the trust of his manager.
