Norwich City have returned to the top flight after just one season in the Championship and last time around, they finished as the second division champions with an impressive 97 points.

Now in their opening game of the 2020-21 Premier League season, Norwich City will have to face Liverpool at home this weekend. There will be no easing back for Daniel Farke’s side, especially since Liverpool won their last seven away matches in the Premier League against the Canaries.

Norwich are obviously the underdogs in this encounter and to make things worse, the manager will be without some really important players due to a COVID outbreak in the camp.

Liverpool have not had the best of times in pre-season so Norwich City might have a chance to pull off a smash and grab on the opening weekend and even a point will be a great start to their campaign.

Norwich City team news vs Liverpool:

Angus Gunn has joined Norwich City from Southampton this summer but Tim Krul will start in the No 1 role this weekend vs Jurgen Klopp’s side.

New arrival Ben Gibson should partner Grant Hanley in central defence. Hanley remains doubtful for the game as per the rumours and if he is not fully fit then Christoph Zimmermann could come into the side.

Daniel Farke has lost Emi Buendia this summer and Max Aarons was another player who was heavily linked with an exit. But it looks like the Canaries have managed to hold onto him and he is going to start at right-back against Liverpool.

Norwich have signed young Billy Gilmour on loan from Chelsea and the prolific midfielder is sure to make his debut this weekend at Carrow Road. With Oliver Skipp heading back to Tottenham, the Scott is likely to be partnered by Pierre Lees-Melou in the middle of the pitch.

The Canaries have managed to hold onto Todd Cantwell this summer but like Hanley, he too remains an injury doubt for the season opener. We will have to wait and see if he is deemed fit or not.

Farke is also expected to hand a debut to right winger Milot Rashica, who was signed from Werder Bremen in the summer. And as usual, it will be 31-year-old Teemu Pukki who will lead the line against Liverpool.

Norwich City predicted line-up vs Liverpool:

Predicted XI(4-2-3-1): Krul; Gibson, Hanley, Aaron, Giannoulis; Billy Gilmour, Lees-Melou, Vrancic; Cantwell, Rashica, Pukki.
