Arsenal have been looking to sign Emi Buendia from Norwich City as the potential replacement to Martin Odegaard but recently even Aston Villa have joined the race.
The 24-year-old has been on fire in the Championship, scoring 15 and assisting 17 goals in 39 league appearances for Norwich and there’s no denying that Buendia deserves to be playing in the Premier League week-in-week-out.
Martin Odegaard’s loan spell with Arsenal has ended and there’s a big chance that he might not return to England once he heads back to Real Madrid. And this the main reason why the Gunners are so eager to get their hands on Emi Buendia in the summer.
The Gunners are sure to face some stiff competition from Villa in this transfer race but according to The Athletic’s David Ornstein, Norwich City are finally ready to cash in on the Argentinian.
Norwich and Emi Buendia have seemingly come to an agreement that it is best of the player to move out in the summer so the Canaries are now willing to listen to offers for their playmaker.
This is great news for both Arsenal as well as Aston Villa and while the Gunners are said to be preparing a bid for the 24-year-old but Martin Odegaard still remains their first priority.

Talking about Odegaard’s future, Mikel Arteta had said on Sunday: “We have a very clear and strong opinion on what we would like to do. He’s not our player. We will have discussions in the next few weeks.”
Emi Buendia should be inclined to join Arsenal over Aston Villa in the summer but if the Gunners keep lingering over Martin Odegaard the Norwich City man could easily choose a move to Villa Park.
It’s still unclear how things will pan out but it’s great news that Norwich have finally agreed to let Buendia take the next logical step in his career. But if clubs like Arsenal and Villa are serious about signing the Argentine then they will have to be ready to shell out a sizeable transfer fee since Emi Buendia still has three more years left on his deal.
