West Ham United have been scouting Celtic forward Odsonne Edouard for a really long time but it looks like the Hammers have been overtaken by Leicester City.
Edouard has been in top goal-scoring form for Celtic FC over the past couple of seasons and with him entering the final year of his contract, it seems like the Scottish side are finally ready to cash in on him.
West Ham United manager David Moyes has been eyeing Odsonne Edouard for a really long-time and Football Insider had even claimed that West Ham co-owner David Sullivan has urged the agents to get the transfer done as quickly as possible.
But, over the past few weeks, there have been whispers that Leicester City are actually picking up pace in this deal and now as per the latest update from TalkSport editor Jason Bourne, the Foxes are the favourites to sign the 23-year-old.
He wrote on Twitter: “I understand Boubakary Soumaré to Leicester City is getting closer to completion. Appears formalities just need to be sorted now.
“Leicester also want to wrap up Odsonne Edouard deal. Personal terms not a problem. Looking to arrange a fee now. Could be £15-20m.”

Brendan Rodgers has obviously used his prior connection with Odsonne Edouard to convince him to join Leicester City and if this deal goes through then it will undoubtedly be a massive blow for West Ham United, who are frantically searching for a new forward.

The Hammers can offer more money to price out Leicester City but as things stand, the Foxes are going to play in the Champions League while West Ham are likely to be in the Europa League. So, the choice will be pretty clear in the forward’s head.
Also, with Jamie Vardy reaching the twilight of his playing career, Odsonne Edouard could become the undisputed frontman at Leicester City as early as the 2021-22 season.
A £20 million price tag will be a bargain for someone who has netted 83 goals and provided 37 assists during his 168 appearances for Celtic but we won’t be surprised if the SPFL side jack up the asking price in the coming days since West Ham United are also keen to sign Odsonne Edouard.
