Odsonne Edouard has been linked with a move to Premier League club Arsenal but Neil Lennon has hinted that the forward could sign a new deal at the club this summer.

The 22-year-old has been in peak form for Celtic this season, scoring 21 goals and providing 12 assists in just 27 Premiership games. And over the past couple of months, the player is being eyed by Mikel Arteta.

But recently, the Celtic manager claimed that Odsonne Edouard could remain at Parkhead beyond the summer which was an immediate setback for the North London club.

“There are discussions at the minute with his [Edouard’s] representatives,” said the Celtic boss, as reported by Goal.

“Ultimately he’s a player we want around. He’s a fantastic player. He’s really blossomed over the last couple of seasons. He had a magnificent season this year and we want to keep him. It’s as simple as that. We’re doing everything we can to keep him here for at least another season anyway.

“I think he is [happy]. I think he’s got a fantastic relationship certainly with me and my backroom team and his team-mates. You can see how much the supporters appreciate him as well. I think that’s reciprocated.

“He’s grown into a top-class striker. Of course, there is going to be speculation around a player of that quality. But we’re comfortable at the minute with the position we’re in with him.”

Now while talking about his links with the English giants, Odsonne Edouard has admitted that he is flattered with the connections but right now remains committed to the Bhoys.

‘It shows you are working hard and doing the right things as a player,’ Edouard said, via Metro.

‘It is flattering, but I just concentrate on trying to play well for Celtic. That’s what I am focused on at the moment.

‘Of course, winning 10-in-a-row is very important for the club, the players and the fans. Of course, I would love to be part of it. No-one knows what will happen in the future, but I want to be a part of it.

‘At the moment, I am still under contract with Celtic and my priority is to get back playing again. In the future, we will see what happens.

‘My first target right now is to play football again after so much time away from the pitch. I actually only set personal targets for myself once the season actually starts.’

This admission is a definite hint that Odsonne Edouard is well aware of all the interest surrounding him and hence there’s every chance he could try and force his way out of Scotland this summer.

Even if he does sign a new deal at Celtic, there’s surely going to be a release clause in that contract. And now we just have to wait and see if Arsenal are willing to pay around 35-40 million pounds for the Frenchman or not.
