Arsenal want to sign Celtic FC forward Odsonne Edouard during the summer transfer window and it seems like the move will eventually happen – thanks to the Parkhead side.

Edouard has been one of the top performers in the Scottish league ever since he joined the Bhoys from PSG in 2018 and this season the 22-year-old has already racked up 21 goals and 12 assists in the Premiership.

The Gunners are reportedly at the front of the queue to sign the French U21 international and according to Noel Whelan, Celtic might look to sell him off due to Neil Lennon’s requirements.

“It is a lot of money for Celtic. But, if they sell Edouard for big money then there is an opportunity to get the goalkeeper and another striker,” Whelan told Football Insider.

“Their scouting network is going to have to get straight to work but they have always been good with their recruitment.”

Whelan also believes Neil Lennon needs to sort out out the future of Fraser Forster who is currently on loan from Southampton. While another loan move is on the cards but surely the Celtic boss will be thinking of a more permanent solution this time around which is another reason why the club will need money from Edouard’s sale.

“I think they have got to think long and hard about it,” Whelan added.

“I think another loan deal is on the cards if he is not going to be used at Southampton. That would work for both clubs. There are many options there.”

Can Arsenal sign Odsonne Edouard?

Celtic reportedly value the forward at around £35million which is a lot of money for a Scottish club and if Arsenal do agree to pay this fee then there’s no way, Lennon will resist a transfer.

But with such a relatively low price tag, Everton also seem to be interested in signing the 22-year-old and their manager Carlo Ancelotti might very well hold the key to this deal.

Yes, Arsenal are a top side but sadly Everton right now have a manager who has the capability of attracting top-quality players on his own merit.

While Mikel Arteta is still learning the tricks of the trade, Carlo Ancelotti is a seasoned manager and a player like Odsonne Edouard can really nurture under his guidance.

Also as things stand, Arsenal will not be playing in the Champions League next season either so Edouard might as well take the risk of joining Everton in order to better himself as a striker over the next couple of seasons.
