Pundit urges this 26Y/O West Ham target to remain at his current club: Will Moyes make a formal move for him?

West Ham United have been linked with Aston Villa forward Ollie Watkins but according to Gabby Agbonlahor, Steven Gerrard should hold onto him.

The forward might have seen a dip in form last season but despite Villa’s struggles in the league, Ollie Watkins still managed to score 11 goals in 35 Premier League appearances.

Danny Ings was the centre of focus for Villa last season which is why Watkins had to play out of position in most matches but he still managed to have a decent campaign.

The Hammers boss is said to be a big fan of the 26-year-old but when asked about this potential move, Agbonlahor made it very clear that Aston Villa need to reject all offers.

“Definitely keep,” Agbonlahor said on talkSPORT. “He’s perfect for Aston Villa. They have always had quick strikers who like running in behind, not mentioning any names.

“But he does a great job for Aston Villa and he can score many goals.”

Will West Ham United try and sign Ollie Watkins?

At the start of the summer, the Hammers were being heavily linked with Watkins but in the past few weeks all those rumours have died down.

And now that Moyes has been able to sign Scamacca from Sassuolo, we highly doubt if the West Ham manager is still interested in the Villa forward.

Gianluca Scamacca had his medical on Tuesday so it’s almost confirmed that the Italian is going to join the squad in the next couple of days.

David Moyes will have Michail Antonio and Scamacca has his two main centre-forwards so the London side are now looking for a backup striker. Given the player he is, there’s no way Ollie Watkins will want to join West Ham United as the third-choice player.

Currently, West Ham United are being linked with forwards like Watford’s Emmanuel Dennis, someone who can fill the void during those tricky and unpleasant Conference League matches and the cup competitions.
