He put in a great shift during the match as he played in central midfield, not his usual position. He also had Maitland-Niles beside him which was not he was hoping for. But that didn’t stop the 23-year old from pulling off a wonderful performance. The Arsenal fans are really happy with the Ox’s performance. Yes, that’s what he is called affectionately. And they have been showering praises on him throughout social media. Some fans even went out of their way by claiming that Chamberlain played like a young Pirlo.
Chamberlain had a 97% passing accuracy rate in the match and also had one assist. Games have been hard to come by for Chamberlain especially after the arrival of Granit Xhaka having started just eight league games this season. But Xhaka was suspended for this match and Oxlade grabbed this opportunity with both hands. And pulled out a great performance.
Such a performance will definitely give Arsene Wenger a few headaches when it comes to selection. But the Arsenal boss will readily accept such a problem. Wenger might repay the young man’s performance by giving him a start in Arsenal’s Premier League match against Watford.
