Man United might have to cash in on his midfielder before the 21/22 season begins: Here’s why

Paul Pogba Juventus

PSG are currently the favourites to sign midfielder Paul Pogba should he decide to leave Manchester United and as per Sky Sports, the Ligue 1 giants are planning to make a formal approach really soon.

The report claims: “Paris Saint-Germain are expected to make their interest in Paul Pogba formal in the near future, with the Manchester United midfielder seemingly unlikely to sign a new contract at Old Trafford.

PSG are yet to make an offer to United for Pogba, although reports in France suggest they have made contact with his representatives.”

Can Man United make Paul Pogba sign a new deal?

Paul Pogba has entered the final year of his contract but the club are yet to make him agree to a new deal. If United fail to do so then they have no other option but to cash in on him this summer itself.

Manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer though remains optimistic about the fact that all the parties will come to an agreement really soon.

“The talks are ongoing between Paul’s representatives and our club representatives,” said United boss Solskjaer, as quoted by talkSPORT.

“There is always speculation about Paul and there are always clubs being interested because of course, we have seen Paul at his best.

“I’m not in the detail of every single one of the discussions but Paul knows what we feel about it.

“I have enjoyed my time working with Paul and hopefully we can [continue] working together. All the dialogue I’ve had with Paul is he’s looking forward to the new season.”

Paul Pogba to leave as a free agent?

While everyone is wondering why Manchester United are struggling so hard to make him sign a new contract, 90min are claiming that Paul Pogba might be planning to move out as a free agent next year.

A source told 90min: “It is a complicated situation, not everyone is in agreement.

“It is yet to be seen if Pogba, even with an offer to make him the most well paid player in England, would agree to stay at Manchester United.”

If this is really the case then Manchester United cannot afford to lose out on £45-50 million(his market value is £54 million).

The Old Trafford outfit will have to make prompt moves and by the time PSG make their formal offer, they will have to make sure what Paul Pogba wants. If the midfielder has his sights set on an exit, it will be sensible for the club to send him out this summer itself rather than see him walk out for free next summer.
