Paulo Fonseca Tottenham Hotspur

Tottenham Hotspur have been looking for a successor for Jose Mourinho and according to the latest reports, 48-year-old Paulo Fonseca is going to be that man.

Daniel Levy was desperate to bring in a new manager before the European Championship comes to an end and according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, ex-Roma boss Fonseca has agreed to join the North London side.

He wrote on Twitter: “Paulo Fonseca is set to sign his contract as new Tottenham head coach. Club now already planning for official announcement and transfers strategy together with the Portuguese manager.”

Paul Fonseca was shown the door at AS Roma at the end of the 2020-21 season after a really disappointing season and he has been replaced by Jose Mourinho.

Now, the 48-year-old looks all set to take Mourinho’s place in the Tottenham Hotspur dugout in the coming months.

Paulo Fonseca started his managerial career in 2005 and over the past one and a half decades he has been in charge of pretty big clubs across Europe. Before the job at AS Roma, he had spells with Shakhtar, Braga and even FC Porto.

But, there’s no doubt the Tottenham Hotspur job will be his most intense one so far.

The rumours claim that only the minor details are left to be agreed upon and once done, Spurs are planning to make the official announcement some time this week.

Once Paulo Fonseca has taken charge, his first major job will be to convince big players like Harry Kane to remain at the club beyond this summer.
