Pep Guardiola is playing on a totally different pitch

Pep Guardiola came to Manchester City at the back of success. Bags and bags of success to be precise. He was probably the best manager in the world when he arrived at the shores of Manchester.

But now it looks as if he has stumbled upon a road block. Temporarily we hope. Manchester City are about to end their season without any trophies. Not something that Guardiola is used to. And on top of that, they have just about managed to secure a Champions League spot for next season.

So as per the Guardiola benchmark, this season has been poor for Manchester City. And now, Pep Guardiola has come out and said that if he would have had such a season at Barcelona or Bayern then he would have been sacked.

“In my situation at a big club, I’m sacked. I’m out, if it is Barcelona and Bayern, you don’t win and you are out. Here I have a second chance and I will try to do it better next season.”

But theoretically speaking, Manchester City will still have to win both their remaining games in order to qualify for the Champions League next season. City next take on West Brom at the Etihad Stadium. And are expected to win the match without much effort.

Pep Guardiola took over the reigns from Manuel Pelligrini as the City owners desperately wanted to take the club to the top level of Europe. But as it turns out Guardiola has been unable to replicate the success he had with his previous clubs.

Pep Guardiola will definitely try and strengthen the Manchester City squad during the summer. The Spaniard is expected to bring in a host of players. The next season will truly be an acid test for Guardiola and if he fails to deliver yet again then the sword might be very well hanging over his head at the end of next season.
