Philippe Coutinho is itching to return to the English Premier League next season and right now, a series of clubs are interested in signing him.

Coutinho’s time at Barcelona has clearly been a major flop and despite a slight revival with Bayern Munich, the Bundesliga outfit did not convert the loan deal into a permanent transfer meaning the Brazilian has returned to Camp Nou this summer.

Barcelona though are unquestionably ready to offload him before the new season begins but right now, they are struggling to find a buyer for the playmaker. This is one of the big reasons why the La Liga side are willing to send him out on loan, this time with an obligation to buy.

And this loan offer seems to have opened up new possibilities for the player with his agent hinting at some concrete interest from top English clubs.

The likes of Arsenal, Chelsea and even Newcastle United have been linked with a move for Philippe Coutinho but according to the Daily Mail, it’s Leicester and Spurs who are leading the race to sign the playmaker.

The report claims: “Tottenham are a club who have established a reputation for bargain hunting and although Coutinho would not fit in that category, having the chance to sign someone as talented as him is too good an opportunity to turn their noses up at.

“If Spurs want Coutinho enough, they could also be his best bet for a lesser pay cut. If Tottenham want him enough, getting a deal completed should be fairly straightforward.”

If the Saudi takeover does not materialize then Newcastle United will surely not be able to sign Coutinho while Chelsea might no longer be interested as they are trying to get Kai Havertz on board.

Arsenal remain the third interested club in this transfer saga but they will run short on the wages budget next season meaning Philippe Coutinho will have to take a massive pay cut if he wishes to join the Emirates outfit.
