Manchester United might be flying high during the past couple of weeks but behind the scenes, its absolute chaos.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has been appointed as the caretaker manager until the end of the season and the club have bought time for themselves to appoint their next boss.

While a number of names have been floating around, but there are only a couple of managers who look favourites to take up the lucrative job.

Former Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane’s name ranks high on the list as some sources have claimed that the Red Devils have already made contact with the Frenchman.

The other name on the list is Red Bull Salzburg boss Marco Rose whose name has popped up during the past couple of days.

Laurent Blanc’s name is also being suggested by a couple of sources but it seems current Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino is the favourite for the job.

According to reports, Pochettino is Ed Woodward’s number one choice to replace Jose Mourinho as the next long-term manager of Manchester United.

But it seems like the Red Devils will wait until the end of the season to make their approach towards the Argentinian.

Pochettino has maintained that he is more than happy with life at White Hart Lane but most pundits believe that the Man United job will be very hard for him to resist once the Red Devils come calling.

Former Spurs and Man United striker Teddy Sheringham feels Mauricio Pochettino will be the ideal choice for the next Man United manager and that Spurs will be powerless to hold onto their manager.

“Pochettino is doing all the right things at Tottenham,” Sheringham said.

“People will say he hasn’t won anything but he’s transformed things in north London. He’s got them on the right path.

“He gets players playing to the best of their capabilities and that’s what you want as a manager.

“I don’t think it’s a case of whether Spurs will let him go and I don’t think it’s about money either.

“It’s just about what Pochettino wants to do.

“If United want him and he wants to go then I don’t think Tottenham will stand in his way.

“You can’t turn down the chance to join Manchester United as a player and it must be exactly the same as a manager.”
