Everton manager Ronald Koeman has claimed that the Toffees are looking for a new striker before the transfer window comes to a close and that his club will be more than happy to have Diego Costa on board.

Chelsea outcast, Costa has been spending most of his time in exile in Brazil after the Spaniard refused to return back to Stamford Bridge. A few months back the Chelsea striker claimed that Antonio Conte had shown him the door and from that point onwards a sort of cold war has broken out between the 28-year-old and the London outfit. From asking the striker to return back to training to Antonio Conte laughing at the importance of Costa, this transfer saga has seen more or less everything there is to offer. But Costa has always maintained that he has his heart set on returning back to his former club Atletico Madrid.

If Costa really wishes to rejoin Diego Simeone’s side then it would mean that he will have to wait out until January in order to sign for the La Liga side – due to the transfer embargo on the club. And now it looks as if Merseyside club, Everton have shown a keen interest in bringing the player onboard.

Everton boss, Ronald Koeman already has 20-year-old sensation, Dominic Calvert-Lewin amongst his ranks. But word around Goodison park is that Koeman cannot fully rely on the youngster to partner summer signing Sandro Ramirez for the whole season. And that is why the Everton boss is keen to add one more striker to his squad.

While talking about the interest in Diego Costa, Koeman said, “I have always said there will be a warm welcome for every good player here and he is a good player.”

So will Diego Costa change his mind after hearing this statement and wear the blue of Everton?
