Last season, Man City and Liverpool were fighting a two-horse race for the Premier League title with the Citizens eventually coming out on top.

The Reds lost only a single game throughout the whole 2018-19 season but still, Man City were able to nick the title with just a single point.

And most fans believe that Pep Guardiola’s men would be able to retain the Premier League title this campaign too.

While the majority are pitching Man City as favourites to lift the title but according to Alan Shearer, Liverpool might finally be able to end their Premier League title drought.

“Without doubt, it will be Liverpool and Manchester City once again fighting it out for the title,” Shearer told the Sun.

“I’m going to stick my neck out here and say Liverpool might just pip City to the league, providing they are more organised in defence than they looked at times on Sunday.

“However, I’m not sure either team will be able to better last season. We were very lucky to witness what we did with Liverpool being so good — and City being just one point better (98).”

But according to former Liverpool striker Michael Owen, the Anfield outfit will once again be playing catch up during the 2019-20 Premier League season.

“Champions League winners Liverpool look set to again be the main challengers to City as they continue their search for a, hitherto, elusive PL title,” he said.

“The Reds played their part in a magnificent title race last season and they are sure to have their supporters as they bid to go one better, but I just favour City in what looks a virtual match between these two great sides.”

While Liverpool will undoubtedly be challenging Man City for the Premier League title but the likes of Chelsea and Man United too will be looking to have a shot at the trophy after missing out for several years.
