The representative of all the Premier League clubs recently met to vote on a number of important issues.

One such issue was the introduction of VAR and now the Premier League have confirmed that the technology will be introduced next season.

Apart from the VAR, the other big issue that the clubs voted on was the moving of the Transfer Deadline Day.

The transfer window saw a major change this summer as it closed before the 2018-19 season began. This change though was not consistent across Europe meaning only the clubs in England had to abide by this rule.

And this caused a serious problem for some of the major clubs in the Premier League.

The early Transfer Deadline Day meant that English clubs could not buy players once the season began while their counterparts in Spain, Germany and Italy had the luxury of buying and selling players up until the end of August.

This is why some clubs in the Premier League wanted to revert back to the old format wherein the transfer window closes at the end of August.

One such club was Manchester United who were against the early closing of the transfer window and even Leicester City manager Claude Puel had voiced his concern about the issue back in May.

Puel had said(as reported by the BBC): “Of course all the managers, trainers want to start the season with the transfer window stopping but other counties can continue to buy players,”

The voting has been completed and now we can confirm that there will be no rollback of rules meaning that the transfer window next summer will once again close before the new season begins in August 2019.

This means all the Premier League clubs will not be able to buy new players once the 2019-20 season kicks off but players playing in England are free to move out and join leagues in other countries.
