PSG have once again made an embarrassing exit from the Champions League and this Round of 16 elimination is probably going to cost Mauricio Pochettino his job.

There have been rumours that the PSG management want to get rid of the Argentine by the end of this season and right now they are in the process of making a list of the probable candidates who can replace him.

Up until now, several names have popped up including the likes of Erik ten Hag and Diego Simeone but as per L’Equipe(as cited by Fotmob) the French side are also going to look at Mikel Arteta and Antonio Conte.

These North London managers have been doing fairly well with their respective sides this season which is why PSG are probably going to talk to them in the coming months.

Who are the other managers who are in the running?

As per the reports circulating in the French media, PSG have shortlisted close to a dozen names who are likely to replace Mauricio Pochettino.

The list includes managers like Massimiliano Allegri (Juventus), Christophe Galtier (Nice), Simone Inzaghi (Inter), Thiago Motta (Spezia) apart from Ten Hag and Simeone of course.

Are Arteta and Antonio Conte good choices?

Antonio Conte is a big pedigree manager who is currently not happy with Spurs’ mediocre ambitions. Despite the limited signings, Spurs are still performing very well under Conte so he can very easily be the one who leads PSG to that elusive Champions League glory. Also, he did a wonderful job with Inter last season.

Mikel Arteta, on the other hand, has done a fine rebuilding job at Arsenal and after much struggle, the Gunners are finally back on track in terms of performances. He is someone who will have to be given time to rebuild as per his vision and with the right signings, Arteta has the potential to turn PSG into a European juggernaut.

Will Pochettino be returning to the Premier League?

The fact that PSG want to part ways with Mauricio Pochettino is great news for Manchester United because he is one of the managers who are in the running to become the next United manager.

United have already begun the process of searching for their next permanent boss and if PSG get rid of Poch in the coming months then the job becomes that much easier for Rangnick and co.

Erik ten Hag is another manager who is on United’s shortlist but if someone like Mauricio Pochettino is without a club then the Red Devils will preferably move for him.

Will Arteta or Conte agree to take charge of PSG?

Conte is a manager who wants to challenge for titles which is why if PSG comes calling then there’s every chance he could bag his bags and move out. Ancelotti was looking fine with Everton but as soon as Real Madrid knocked on his doors, he took no time to move out and we might see a similar situation in terms of Conte deserting Spurs.

Spurs did not spend money to make big-name signings in January and if they have similar plans for the summer as well then Antonio Conte will definitely prefer a move to PSG rather than fighting for a top-four spot once again.

Mikel Arteta though is not likely to leave Arsenal because the board has shown a lot of faith in his process. He has been given time and money to rebuild the squad as per his vision but he won’t be able to get such luxury at PSG.

The PSG management wants instant results and we don’t think Arteta will be able to deliver under such massive pressure. Even he knows this fully well so he would much rather remain with the Gunners and continue the good work he’s been doing.
