Just as Antonio Conte had put his Tottenham Hotspur future up in the air, PSG seems to have earmarked the man who will replace Mauricio Pochettino, according to Le Parisien.

Pochettino has not had a good time in Paris so the owners are ready to sack him and as per the latest updates, Sporting Lisbon boss Ruben Amorim is the priority candidate to take charge next season.

The name of Zinedine Zidane has also been doing the rounds but he is not likely to take up the job because of his interest in becoming the France national team coach. Everyone thought, PSG will shift their focus to Antonio Conte after this but it appears like 37-year-old Amorim is now at the top of their wishlist.

Are PSG serious about bringing in Ruben Amorim?

Amorim won the Portuguese league last season with Sporting and this time around the club has finished second under his command but we don’t think PSG are seriously thinking of bringing him in.

In order to succeed in the Champions League, PSG needs an experienced manager and by going after Ruben Amorim, they will simply be repeating the Pochettino mistake once again. PSG need someone who can take command of a star-studded squad because that has been the principal issue for them in recent seasons.

Also, now that Kylian Mbappe has a say in who the next manager will be, the Frenchman won’t be too delighted to be managed by someone who’s been a senior manager for only three years.

Ruben Amorim has a release clause of €30-million and it will make much more sense for PSG to try and bring in someone like Conte, rather than spending so much money on a relatively unknown manager.

Will Spurs be able to hold onto Antonio Conte or is he going to PSG?

This bit of news will definitely bring joy to some Spurs fans but we think Antonio Conte is still one of the prominent candidates to replace Pochettino at PSG.

Despite all the odds, he’s done remarkably well to take Spurs back into the Champions League next season so there’s every chance he can finally help PSG will the coveted European trophy.

Daniel Levy will have to work really hard to hold onto Conte but if PSG does come calling then the Italian will take the next flight to Paris, that’s for sure.
