Chelsea move closer to signing this England winger and they’ve already discussed personal terms: Only a matter of time?

Man City winger Raheem Sterling playing for England

Raheem Sterling has been tipped to leave Manchester City this summer and according to Fabrizio Romano, he is very much likely to join Chelsea.

The Blues manager is planning an overhaul of his attacking setup and he’s currently focused on signing Sterling because the winger is yet to sign a new deal with City.

Sterling’s current contract expires in the summer of 2023 but he’s unsure about his future at the club which is why City are now ready to cash in on him due to fears of losing him as a free agent at the end of next season.

Romano has claimed that Chelsea have already discussed personal terms with the player and Raheem Sterling is also open to joining the Blues.

He wrote on Twitter: “Positive feelings around Raheem Sterling deal also tonight. Chelsea have a new bid ready, Man City are prepared to let him go as it was part of the plan – and Raheem is keen on Chelsea move.

“Personal terms, already discussed. Second bid is coming. More to follow soon.”

Will Raheem Sterling join Chelsea in the coming weeks?

If Sterling is not signing a new deal then Guardiola will definitely sell him off and he will be an ideal arrival for Thomas Tuchel.

Lukaku is heading back to Inter Milan and the Blues boss also has plans to get rid of Ziyech, Timo Werner and Pulisic. In such a scenario, Raheem Sterling can very easily come in and become a regular starter alongside Mason Mount.

Tuchel plays with a 3-4-2-1 system so the England international can play as an attacking midfielder and if needed, he can also act as the absolute frontman.

The winger is currently valued at £63m and Man City are open to selling him for a fee of around £50-60m – a price tag which is very much within Chelsea’s reach.

Right now, the only stumbling block in this transfer is the fee and once the two clubs can agree on that, Chelsea signing Raheem Sterling will only be a matter of time.
