Rangers FC have reportedly blocked Bruno Alves from moving out of Ibrox during the summer transfer window.
Alves, 36, joined the Gers last summer on a two-year deal but the Portuguese centre-back has been highly unsuccessful during the whole of last season.
And now reports suggest that one of his former clubs Vitória Guimarães want to bring him back to the Primeira Liga for the next season.
Alves cannot perform at Rangers and a club wants to buy him so what seems to be the problem then?
Well, for starters, Vitoria cannot afford to buy Bruno Alves and thus they are trying to find ways of getting him for free from Rangers.
Alves reportedly earns £28,000 a week at Ibrox and no player in the Primeira Liga side earns that much currently.
So they were hoping Rangers would be willing to free Alves with a pay-off to offset any drop in salary.
But the report suggests that the Gers have outright said no to the deal.
And the Rangers fans are pretty happy with their clubs decision.
Here are some reactions:
Bruno Alves will play a belter of a season for us, remember this

I don’t think Bruno Alves will be at @RangersFC next season but club quite right not to release him for free. Whoever signs him has to pay compensation!

The opinion amongst the Rangers fans seems to be pretty divided.
While some feel that Bruno Alves will perform well under new manager Steven Gerrard next season others feel that Rangers should sell him off but not for free.
