Rangers FC seemed to have missed out on Ryan Kent after Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp made it clear that he will not let the winger leave on loan.

Last season, Ryan Kent really impressed the Gers management and Steven Gerrard made it pretty clear towards the beginning of the transfer window that he wanted to bring the youngster back to Ibrox for another loan spell.

But the Liverpool manager is clearly against the idea claiming that he would only let Ryan Kent leave on a permanent transfer this summer.

Klopp said(as reported): “It(the loan spell) helped a lot. He came back a completely a different player.

“It was a very important year. It helped, good club, good manager and means good competition. Exactly the right thing for him at the right moment. But going back? (Only) If Rangers can buy him. The time is over giving him on loan.

“At a specific age, a player needs to find a place to settle and stuff like this. But we will see. A loan is not planned.”

But speaking about the failed transfer, James Tavernier has now claimed that it shouldn’t be hard for Rangers to cope with the absence of Ryan Kent.

He said: “It would be a great addition to the squad.

“We know what Ryan’s about, he’s a great lad and he was a top footballer on the pitch. You saw the awards he collected at the end of the season, which were deserved.

“But if he wasn’t to come, we’ve got really good players in his position. We’ve got a lot of good players that can do a really good job for us.

“It’s down to the people above us to see what happens. The gaffer’s made some great additions and improved the squad from last year. We worked hard last season and the boys know the system and know the game plan, the new boys have adapted to that game plan already.”
