The Rangers revolution under Steven Gerrard is in full swing as the Scottish outfit have already signed 6 new players during the summer and Peterborough United striker Jack Marriott was scheduled to become the 7th.

Rangers had contacted the League One side in the hopes of putting in a bid for the 23-year-old.

But according to the Scottish Sun, Steven Gerrard’s side have dropped interest in the player after they were informed that Jack Marriott would cost them £5 million.

It seems that Rangers are not ready to spend that much of money on the striker and will no longer chase him.

The price tag though has done little to dissolve the interest from Celtic FC who still remain in the hunt for Jack Marriott.

While Steven Gerrard has made six signings since his appointment at Rangers his managerial counterpart Brendan Rodgers is yet to bring in a new player during the summer.

And by the looks of it, the Celtic boss desperately wants Jack Marriott on board.

Marriott has a fairytale season scoring 27 goals in 44 appearances for Peterborough United which earned him a place in the PFA League One team of the Year.

Celtic though are not the only team interested in signing Jack Marriott with clubs like Sheffield Wednesday, Nottingham Forest and Leeds United also after the striker’s signature.
