Rangers FC could receive a double injury boost for their UEL clash vs Leipzig: Will both of them start?

Rangers FC welcome RB Leipzig in the Europa League semi-final this week and as per The Scottish Sun, Kemar Roofe and Aaron Ramsey could be fit for the second leg.

Both these players missed the first leg in Germany due to injuries but GvB is optimistic that the duo could play in some capacity on Thursday night.

The Gers go into the second leg at the back of a 1-0 deficit and if these key players can return then it will be a massive boost for the manager in terms of naming a strong starting XI.

Will Kemar Roofe and Aaron Ramsey both start for the Gers?

The Scottish Sun is very practical in asserting that Kemar Roofe has been making good progress in recovery from his knee injury but the striker will have to pass a late fitness test on Thursday.

Aaron Ramsey though should play a part in some capacity and this basically means the Welsh international is only fit enough to come on as a substitute in the second half.

Ramsey’s injury is not a major cause of concern but if Kemar Roofe is not ready in time then the Rangers FC boss will be under a lot of pressure.

Morelos is already out for the remainder of the season and if Roofe is also meaning then GvB will have to put his trust on Fashion Sakala.

Sakala did score in Sunday’s Old Firm Derby but the 25-year-old is no sense the ideal man to lead the line against a team like RB Leipzig.

Aaron Ramsey’s European experience can come in handy but players like Arfield and Aribo can very easily do the same job so the priority for the Rangers FC boss is for his second-choice striker to return to full fitness.

With a fully fit squad, the Scottish side have what it takes to overturn the 1-0 scoreline and reach the final but for that to happen, they will have to make sure Leipzig do not pick up an early lead and dent their confidence.

Update on Rangers injuries:

The manager, in his press conference, has also admitted that neither Roofe nor Ramsey are guaranteed starters on Thursday but they do have an outside chance of making it into the matchday squad.

He said, as quoted: “Of course, I will wait as long as possible[for the duo to prove their fitness], but the most important thing for me is that they are physically able to play a part in tomorrow’s game, that is always the deciding factor.

“We still have one day to prepare. Today will be an important day for both. I cannot tell you if they are in the squad for tomorrow or not.”
