Rangers FC and AFC Bournemouth have been linked with a move for Charlton Athletic centre-forward Lyle Taylor who is set to be a free agent in the summer.

The player joined Charlton from Wimbledon two years ago and this season, the 30-year-old has netted 11 goals in 22 Championship matches, and according to TEAMtalk, the player is wanted by a series of big clubs across the United Kingdom.

The exclusive report claims: “A host of clubs are battling it out to sign Charlton Athletic striker Lyle Taylor, TEAMtalk understands.

“Taylor is out-of-contract at The Valley this summer, and the 30-year-old has a plethora of clubs looking to seal his signature. Burnley, Crystal Palace, Bournemouth, Stoke, Preston and Middlesbrough are all looking closely at him, whilst Rangers are also abreast of the situation.

“Taylor is out of contract at the end of June and is unlikely to play into July for the Addicks.”

Now speaking about the restart of the Championship, Charlton boss Lee Bowyer has dropped a bombshell claiming that Lyle Taylor is not going to risk playing the remaining matches in order to avoid an injury.

“Lyle is a big player for us, a bit like Deeney at Watford,” Charlton’s manager told TalkSPORT, as reported by Football Insider.

“When he plays, we win games and Lyle has said he is not going to play because of the risk of injury. Chris Solly said the same. He’s done great for us for two years and, in my eyes, you finish what you have started.

“Everyone has got their own decisions to make – I cannot force them. What disappoints me the most, and I’ve spoken to Lyle about it, [is that] he wants to play but he is so worried about getting injured that he is saying: ‘I won’t be the same player for you.’

“It’s difficult because he’s so big [a player] for us. He’s going to get a life-changing move. If it wasn’t for Lyle, we wouldn’t even be in this division. He has chosen now not to come back and play until the end.”

Will Taylor choose Rangers FC or Bournemouth?

This is great news for the Cherries as well as Rangers FC but what remains to be seen is which club is Lyle Taylor tempted to sign for the 2020-21 season.

Some people feel the 30-year-old would want to move to Scotland and join Rangers FC since he would want to work under Steven Gerrard. But we think the player would like to join a Premier League club simply cause he wants more money(as per his current manager).

Bowyer told Sky Sports: “There are so many different hurdles. It’s hard, and not just for us but other clubs. We’ve got Lyle Taylor and his contract finishes on June 30.

“He’ll probably go somewhere else and will earn more money than he’s got in his career. It could make him for the rest of his life. Is he going to put that in jeopardy with the injury risk before a dream move? I don’t think so.

“He’s our main striker and his goals win us games. As a free agent, he’ll be getting good offers, and whatever he gets he deserves. He’s done really well for us but that’s the reality of the situation,”

Rangers FC clearly cannot match the financial might of a Premier League side but a chance to play in Europe next season might just help sway Lyle Taylor’s mind.
