Steven Gerrard sacks backroom staff without any remorse: Is this how the new revolution looks at Rangers?

Rangers FC Ibrox

After a season of turmoil under various managers, Rangers FC finished third on the league table – 12 points behind champions Celtic.

And in order to revive their fortunes, the Light Blues have brought in former Liverpool midfielder Steven Gerrard as their new manager.

As soon as the former English International took charge at Ibrox fans have been gushing about the new revolution wave that has hit the club.

Indeed, Gerrard has been quite proactive and has already made a couple of new signings during the summer transfer window with more players still expected to arrive.

But it’s not only the team that’s getting a makeover, it’s also the Rangers FC backroom staff.

According to reports, the new Rangers FC boss has made a complete makeover of his managerial staff and only goalkeeping coach Colin Stewart has survived from last season.

This means that the Ibrox outfit have parted ways with Jonatan Johansson who played such a crucial role last season.

Johansson arrived at Rangers under the managerial regime of Pedro Caixinha but even when Pedro left the club, Johansson’s importance did not diminish.

In fact, the former Finnish International was promoted to assistant manager alongside Graeme Murty and he even retained his place under Jimmy Nicholl who was in charge of the final three games of the season.

But now with the arrival of Steven Gerrard, Jonatan Johansson has been promptly relieved of his duties and the worst part of it is all, the new manager did not even take out time to say a word of appreciation to him.

Johansson sacrificed his part-time role with the Finnish national side in order to move to Scotland but after just one year of service at Rangers FC, the 42-year-old has to look for another job.
