Rangers FC vs Napoli
Ibrox Stadium Rangers FC

Rangers FC take on Aberdeen in the Scottish Premiership this weekend and manager Giovanni van Bronckhorst could be without some key players for this tie.

The Gers got back to winning ways in midweek as they beat St Johnstone 1-0 and since they face Aberdeen just three days later, the manager will want to rotate his squad and rest some of his players.

This though will be easier said than done because with so many players out injured, Van Bronckhorst will not want to risk using his fringe players. Rangers FC are just three points behind league leaders Celtic so the Gers won’t want to drop unnecessary points at this crucial juncture.

Which players are injured going into Saturday’s game?

The Ibrox outfit have as many as four midfielders who are currently out injured and some of them are facing a race against time to be fit for the Aberdeen game.

Aaron Ramsey is ruled out with a calf injury and even Nnamdi Ofoborh is not going to play a part due to his heart problems.

Steven Davis and Ryan Jack though could be fit in time to at least make it to the matchday squad on Saturday but we don’t think either of them will be getting a start.

Filip Helander is also out with an injury and he too will go through a late fitness test to determine his availability. Goldson and Balogun have done a good job in central defence so we don’t see Helander coming into the side from the start.

Ianis Hagi is obviously ruled out for the remainder of the season due to a knee injury and January loan signing Amad Diallo is also going to miss the Aberdeen game with an injury. Amad’s injury is not serious and he should be back to full fitness sometime in the next fortnight.

Will Aberdeen be able to trouble Rangers FC?

With so many injuries, one might think that Aberdeen will be able to cause problems at Ibrox but the visiting side have been really poor this season.

The Dons have been able to pick up only 32 points this season and they are currently 10th on the Premiership table. The visitors are winless in the previous five games and given how good Rangers FC have been this season, we expect Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s side to pick up an easy win on Saturday.

Fatigue is going to be the only issue for the Gers boss and if his side can wrap up the three points early then he is surely going to bring on some of the benchwarmers so that his regulars can be rested.

UPDATE:

The Rangers FC boss has updated that several players are set to return this weekend and the list includes January arrival, Aaron Ramsey.

The manager told the press: “We have more players available. Helander, Jack and Ramsey are back. We are only missing Hagi, Davis and Diallo.”

The return of Aaron Ramsey will be major boost for the manager since Rangers FC have a Europa League game to play next week and the experience of Ramsey will be a big asset.
