Premier League side West Bromwich Albion have joined Rangers FC in the race to sign Peterborough’s 26-year-old forward Jonson Clarke-Harris.

The forward has been in sensational form for the League One side this season and per the latest reports, the Baggies sent scouts to watch him play in the 3-3 draw vs Lincoln City on Saturday, a game where he bagged two goals.

Rangers FC have been linked with a summer move for Jonson Clarke-Harris but according to his former teammate Paddy Kenny, the forward is more likely to head to the Hawthorns instead of joining the Gers in the summer.

He told Football Insider: “He’d definitely go to West Brom if they could somehow stay up. Even if they go down and they come in for him, it’s a tough one to turn down.

“There’s a good chance West Brom will fight for promotion next season again. They always seem to be going up and down like a yo-yo club over the past 15 years.

“They aren’t going to get out of the relegation scrap but even if they do go down, it’s a massive club.

“I’d go to West Brom over Rangers if they both offer. West Brom are going to be playing in a more competitive league.

“Yes, Rangers are going to be playing in the Champions League but there’s a good chance they’ll go out quite early. If you go to West Brom, you could be a Premier League player within 12 months.”

Jonson Clarke-Harris has been in sensational form for Peterborough this season, scoring 31 goals in 45 League One matches so far. And despite him having four years left on his current deal, there’s very little doubt that he will be moving out at the end of this season.

Rangers FC will obviously try their best to rope in the 26-year-old but if West Brom are serious about signing him then there’s very little Steven Gerrard can do about it.

West Brom might be relegated from the Premier League this season but still, Clarke-Harris will want to take his chances with the Baggies. If the club secure promotion next season then the forward will get to play in the English top division, something which every English lad dreams about.

As things stand, Rangers FC stand no chance at signing the forward but West Brom are not going to have a straight route either since clubs like Sheffield United and Cardiff are also interested in Jonson Clarke-Harris.
