Rangers FC take on Malmo in the 3rd qualifying round of the Champions League and Steven Gerrard might have to set up his side without some key first-team players.

The first absentee will be Ianis Hagi who had to be taken off against Livingston shortly after he had scored the opening goal of the match.

And speaking after the game, the manager has hinted that while the injury isn’t serious but Ianis Hagi still remains a doubt for Tuesday.

“It’s never helpful to lose a player that early, especially when you only have three subs. Last year you probably get away with that a bit more because you have the extra couple of subs,” Gerrard said [Sky Sports]

“He scored a massive goal for us to get us up-and-running and hopefully the kick isn’t too serious. He’s a bit sore now but it shouldn’t keep him out for too long.

“Potentially, but we’ve got good physios here and good doctors so hopefully they can pull a rabbit out of the hat and get him ready because he’s going to be important for us.”

The absence of Ianis Hagi will be a big blow for Rangers FC but thankfully Steven Gerrard has a proper backup in the form of Scott Wright.

If the 22-year-old is not fully fit then Wright will replace him on the right wing. The former Aberdeen player replaced Hagi during the Livi game as well and he ended up scoring the second goal for the Gers.

Apart from Ianis Hagi, Kemar Roofe will also be an absentee for Rangers FC as he remains suspended for the Malmo game.

Alfredo Morelos will also not be available on Tuesday due to the quarantine rules which is why Fashion Sakala will keep his place in the starting line-up.
