Rangers FC brought in Ryan Kent from Liverpool last summer and the winger has been in red hot form during the current season.

During the 2018-19 season, the youngster has featured in 39 games for the Gers – scoring six goals and making nine assists. And with that, he has truly been one of the biggest success stories at the Ibrox this campaign.

Ryan Kent is scheduled to head back to Liverpool at the end of the season but multiple reports have claimed that Gerrard wants to keep the youngster at the club beyond the summer.

Some rumours had suggested that the Rangers boss is looking to sign Ryan Kent on a permanent basis but now Gerrard has made it clear that such an arrangement is not possible.

“I think it is unlikely that it would be a permanent move if he came back,” he told the Scottish Sun.

“With the numbers being spoken about, I’m out. We’d be more confident of getting him back on loan.

“If Liverpool do want to sell him, that’s out of my hands so we’ll have to wait and see.

“We need to make sure we have an offer and I’m doing everything I can to make sure he is here next year.”

This meant Steven Gerrard would only have the option of bringing back Ryan Kent on another loan spell for the 2019-20 season.

Now though, even that seems to be a far fetched dream.

A couple of rumours doing the rounds are suggesting that Jurgen Klopp has been truly impressed with Ryan Kent and his performances at Rangers this season and the Liverpool boss is not too keen to let the player move out on another loan spell.

At this point in time, Liverpool are trying really hard to find a buyer for Ryan Kent and they believe that a number of clubs might show an interest in signing the winger given his fine performances this season.

So, as things stand, Rangers will have to either sign Ryan Kent permanently or forget about him at the end of the season.
