EPL pundit predicts the outcome of the Rangers vs Leipzig game: Has he predicted a Gers win?

Rangers vs Leipzig is on Thursday night at Ibrox and according to pundit Michael Owen, this tie could end in a stalemate.

RB Leipzig will come to Scotland with a 1-0 advantage from the first leg but Owen believes, Rangers FC are very much in the race to cause an upset. The ex-Liverpool man has also pointed out a small tactical detail that the Gers should keep in mind when they take the pitch for the 2nd leg of the semi-final.

He wrote in his BetVictor blog: “What a night this will be at Ibrox. Rangers weren’t at their best in Germany, but they did well to only lose by a goal.

“It was by no means a bad result, and this tie could go either way. Rangers will be desperate for Aaron Ramsey to be fit for this game.

“Leipzig are a strong side though and were worth the win in Germany. Rangers must be careful; I think Leipzig will be more dangerous on the break than when they dominate possession.

“I worry Rangers won’t quite have enough goals in them here. I’m leaning towards a 1-1 draw.”

Rangers vs Leipzig: Can the Scottish side turn the table?

In an ideal scenario, Leipzig should be able to see this one out with the utmost ease but if the Ibrox crowd can get under their skin then there’s every chance that the Germans will falter.

At home in Europe, Rangers have drawn 2-2 vs Dortmund and then scored three goals each against Red Star and Braga so they have the ability to turn Ibrox into a fortress on Thursday night.

The one major issue will be with the striker’s department since Morelos is out injured and Kemar Roofe will be touch and go. If Roofe can somehow manage to make it into the starting line up then Rangers can properly match up with RB Leipzig in every area of the pitch.

This game is very tough to call and since there is no away-goal rule, Rangers will have to take the initiative on Thursday night because the 1-0 scoreline from the 1st leg will work perfectly fine for the Germans.
