Rangers FC are reportedly eyeing a move for Slavia Prague defender Simon Deli as Gerrard is keen to bring in defensive reinforcements.
Joe Worrall has gone back to Nottingham Forest which means that the Gers boss badly needs to bring in new defenders and he has already moved in the right direction by signing George Edmundson.
And now reports are claiming that the Teddy Bears want to make a move for Simon Deli since he is a really affordable transfer.
The 27-year-old defender has come up through the ranks at Slavia and he has been a regular in the first team lineup since getting promoted from the B side back in 2015.
And he currently has a release clause of just £1.8 million which means the Gers can easily afford to sign him this summer.
While Slavia Prague are currently trying to make him commit his future to the club but it looks like the defender might just decide to move out this transfer window.
The club’s chairman Jaroslav Tvrdik tweeted(as reported): “In these hours and days, our football god, Simon Deli, wants to decide whether to accept the offer of Slavia or to go for another challenge.
“Help us convince him to help us return to the Champions League in Eden. And that without him we can no longer imagine Slavia. Please write to him, too.”
Initially, it was reported that Rangers were not too keen to pay the release clause for Deli but now it looks like their stance has changed and they are willing to meet Slavia’s demands.
And we can understand why the Rangers boss is so keen to bring the 27-year-old defender to Ibrox before the upcoming season.
Slavia played in the Europa League last season and they went up against the likes of Chelsea. So naturally, Steven Gerrard want to use Simon Deli’s European experience in his side.
Rangers did leak a number of unnecessary goals all throughout the previous season and maybe an experienced defender like Simon Deli can help plug that hole in the upcoming campaign.
