Rangers are reportedly eyeing a move for St Johnstone keeper Zander Clark – as per the latest reports.

The Gers currently have a number of keepers at their disposal but summer signing Allan McGregor has been the No 1 choice for Steven Gerrard during the 2018-19 season.

Rangers do have the likes of Wes Foderingham and Jak Alnwick at their disposal but both these players are expected to leave during the summer transfer window.

When Rangers signed McGregor, Foderingham was automatically pushed down the pecking order and the shot-stopper was more than ready to leave last summer.

Somehow though a transfer could not be put together in place in time but now the keeper is adamant that he will be heading out at the end of the current season.

Alnwick is currently out on loan to League One side Scunthorpe United but it looks like the Ibrox outfit are planning to offload him as well.

And hence it looks like Steven Gerrard is planning to make a move for Zander Clark.

Zander Clark came up through the ranks at St Johnstone and after moving across Scotland on various loan spells the goalkeeper has finally become a mainstay at the club this season.

During the 2018-19 season, Zander Clark has played in 39 games for Johnstone keeping 18 clean sheets.

Rangers though are not the only club who are interested in signing the 26-year-old as reports suggest that a number of Championship sides might also drop in bids to sign him during the summer.

This though will be a serious problem for Gerrard since Zander Clark still has about a year left on his current deal which means St Johnstone can easily play the waiting game and jack up the transfer price.
