Manchester United and PSG have shown substantial interest in signing Real Madrid defender Raphael Varane but chances are that both of them could miss out on him.

Raphael Varane has entered the final year of his contract with Madrid and as per the recent updates, the defender is keen to head out of the club once the 2020-21 season comes to an end.

And many experts feel the World Cup winner is eyeing a move to the Premier League which puts Manchester United and a few other interested English clubs at the front of the queue.

Spanish outlet Marca has also claimed that Real Madrid have sort of given up hope on holding onto Raphael Varane and they are now ready to cash in on him during the summer transfer window. Florentino Perez reportedly wants around £60 million for the services of the centre-back which happens to be in tune with the defender’s current market value.

But over the past 24 hours, there has been a new development that suggests that Real Madrid are making one final attempt to hold onto Raphael Varane, despite knowing fully well that the defender has offers from other clubs.

The report claims: “Real Madrid have offered Raphael Varane improved financial terms as they seek to convince the France international to ignore offers to leave Spain in the coming transfer window.

“The Spanish champions’ attempt to retain the services of a player who made 359 appearances and won four Champions League titles during a decade-long stay at the club is understood to include an after-tax salary of €7million (currently £6m). Varane has asked to be granted time to consider the proposal and alternative options.”

It’s still unclear if Varane’s head will be turned with this new offer but Real Madrid are bracing themselves for his exit so there’s a clear sign that clubs like Man United and PSG have made formal offers to the player.

With one year left on his current deal, there’s a big chance Raphael Varane will want to head for the exit doors and this short time period means even Real Madrid can’t also allow him to ponder over this new offer for too long.
