Lucas Vazquez & Varane Real Madrid

Real Madrid defender Raphael Varane is set to leave the club this summer and if everything goes to plan then he could be playing for Manchester United next season, as per The Express.

The report claims: “Top Manchester United transfer target Raphael Varane reportedly prefers a move to Old Trafford rather than to Paris Saint-Germain this summer. The news comes as the defender’s agents prepare for a meeting with Red Devils’ chiefs as a potential deal gathers pace.

“Varane looks set to depart Real Madrid in this transfer window with talks over a new contract at Los Blancos breaking down. United are one of the frontrunners for his signature, with the Red Devils in the market for a centre-back.

“French giants PSG are also believed to have approached Varane, but the defender is not currently interested in a return to his homeland.”

Will Man United be able to sign Raphael Varane?

The 28-year-old is out of contract at Real Madrid next summer but the defender has already rejected a contract extension since he is ready for a new challenge next season.

PSG are really interested in signing the French defender but as per the report, Varane is not too keen to return to his homeland.

This news will really be music to the ears of Solskjaer will is actively looking to sign a new centre-back, someone who can be the long-term partner to Harry Maguire.

Both Lindelof and Bailly have failed to live up to the expectations at Man United and there are rumours that Ole is looking to sell at least one of them before the new season begins.

If Man United can get their hands on Raphael Varane then it will give them a massive boost in making a push for the Premier League title. But before they can start dreaming, the club will still have to agree on a transfer fee for the defender.

As per TransferMarkt, the 28-year-old is valued at £63 million and Madrid reportedly want around £50 million which is a fee the Old Trafford outfit can very much afford. And this is why we doubt if the Premier League side will want to risk losing out on Raphael Varane by trying to get into negotiations with the Spanish side.
