Raphael Varane could be on his way out of Real Madrid during the summer transfer window and as per the latest rumours, he’s more likely to join Chelsea instead of Manchester United.
Mundo Deportivo claim: “Varane already wanted to leave in 2019, but he finally stayed and now that scenario can be repeated. Offers are not lacking.
“PSG and Manchester United are very interested in signing him, although it seems that Chelsea is the one ahead in this race. Real Madrid’s rival in the Champions League semifinals wants him at the express request of Tuchel and is willing to pay the 70 million euros that Real Madrid would ask for Varane.”
In a recent interview, the defender has made it clear that his current focus is finishing the season with Real Madrid and he is not ready to entertain any transfer talks right now.
“My future is clear,” Varane said, as quoted. “I am focused on the end of the season. We are in a very intense and key moment.”
“It is normal that my focus is on the end of the season. The message to the fans is that I am 100 per cent committed to the team. We have challenges that encourage us a lot. I am focused on giving everything on the field.”
But rumours have it that the central defender is not too keen to sign a new deal at the club and if he is not ready to stay then Madrid will look to cash in on him in the summer since he has only one more year left on his current deal.
Man United have been long-term suitors of the 28-year-old but Ole already has players like Lindelof and Eric Bailly at his disposal so Raphael Varane will not be a guaranteed starter at Old Trafford, should he decide to move.
But at Chelsea, things could be slightly different since Thomas Tuchel uses a three-man defensive line and with Thiago Silva a short-term signing, Varane can easily play at the heart of defence.
Zidane will obviously not want to part ways with such an influential player but if he’s not ready to commit his future then we can’t rule out Raphael Varane playing for a Premier League side next season.
