Raphinha Leeds United

Arsenal are one of the clubs interested in signing Leeds United’s Raphinha and it looks like they have just made a €70 million offer.

Yes, as weird as it may sound but reports in Europe are suggesting that the Gunners have tabled a bid of €55m + €15m in add-ons for Leeds winger.

David Ornstein had reported that Leeds United have rejected Arsenal’s first offer because it was falling short of their valuation and he had also claimed that the Gunners will take their time to launch their next offer.

David Ornstein had said: “Arsenal have had an initial offer rejected by Leeds, it fell way below their valuation, but Arsenal’s interest remains strong & he is a player Arteta wants to sign.

“It may be another one that takes a lot of time & will not be easy.”

However, it looks like Arsenal have wasted no time and their second bid has completely taken everyone by surprise.

Initially, on Thursday, social media was abuzz with the news that an unnamed club had tabled an offer of €70 million and that club was not Barcelona but later in the day, it was confirmed that this club is indeed Arsenal?

Will Arsenal be able to sign Raphinha now?

If the reports are true then this new bid is very much what Leeds have been wanting so a transfer is now truly possible, unless Barcelona make a late entry.

Raphinha actually has his heart set on a move to Barca and the Spanish side have been in contact with his agent since February. However, they are reluctant to pay such a steep price for the Brazilian.

They were taking their own sweet time because no other club was making any progress but now Barcelona will have to pull up their socks.

If they truly want to sign the 25-year-old then they will have to match or better Arsenal’s offer and if they do then Arsenal are in trouble.

Should Barcelona come up with a similar or better bid, Raphinha will undoubtedly choose a move to Spain and even Leeds United will be eager to sell him to another league.

However, right now, it’s Arsenal who look to be the favourites to sign the Leeds man.
