Raphinha Leeds United
Elland Road Leeds United

Liverpool, Barcelona and Arsenal have all been linked with Leeds United winger Raphinha and now Manchester United might have also joined the list, as per Sport(h/t The Faithful MUFC).

Leeds United are reluctant to cash in on the 25-year-old but they also know very well that with so many major sides interested in him, it will be next to impossible to hold onto him.

Liverpool have been chasing him for 12 months while Arsenal and Barcelona have come on board within the previous few months. Now, Manchester United are about to make things even more complex as Erik ten Hag wants to fix the gaping hole on the right wing.

Leeds had a really poor season as they narrowly escaped relegation but Raphinha still managed to net 11 goals in 35 Premier League games for the Elland Road outfit. A player of his talent needs to be playing for a top team and that chance to make a switch might already be knocking on his door.

Will the previous suitors be flustered with United’s entry?

To be honest, Liverpool would have only moved for Raphinha if they had lost Mo Salah but since the Egyptian is not leaving this summer so we don’t think Klopp will be too eager to go after the South American.

Arsenal, however, can use a player like him but they also have Bukayo Saka who plays on the right-hand side. Saka is being eyed by Liverpool and Manchester City plus he is yet to sign a new deal so Arteta won’t risk breaking the youngster’s trust by signing a direct competitor.

Barcelona have been in contact with the player’s agent since February, as per Fabrizio Romano but Leeds’ €55 million demand is what is putting them off right now. If they can gather the funds in time then the Camp Nou outfit will undoubtedly be one of the favourites in this race.

Liverpool and Arsenal’s stance is purely based on theory because any team would love to have a player like Raphinha in their squad and since his transfer fee is very much within the reach, the two English clubs could very well launch a formal offer.

Do Man United have a serious chance of signing Raphinha?

Mason Greenwood’s career has taken a tumble which is why Manchester United are in need of a right-winger and their interest in Raphinha just goes on to show that Erik ten Hag is really desperate to sign a player for that position.

Leeds and United have a historic rivalry and this was why Kalvin Phillips refused to join them but Raphinha is not a local lad so he can very well shift allegiances.

However, with teams like Barca, Liverpool and Arsenal interested, United are at the absolute bottom of the pecking order because Leeds will only sell to them when they are absolutely sure that no other club is interested in the 25-year-old.

United won’t have a problem in paying the demanded €55 million but it will be next to impossible for them to convince Leeds United to sell one of their top players to such a historic rival.
