Bundesliga side RB Leipzig take on Liverpool in the Champions League this week and if Angelino’s words are anything to go by then the Germans are planning to put Trent Alexander-Arnold under some real pressure.

Trent Alexander-Arnold was one of the brightest talents in the Liverpool side last season but this campaign, his form has really dipped and a lot of pundits have come out to criticize him in recent weeks. Angelino has claimed that Trent Alexander-Arnold is very attack-minded and this could help RB Leipzig open the flood gates on Wednesday.

“It was tough because I thought we played a really good match,” Angelino said (via the Daily Mail).

“We were a few times behind their full-backs. [Trent] Alexander-Arnold on the ball is unbelievable but he is too offensive. But that is his best [quality] so we have to exploit the weakness and hopefully we can get a few more chances like we did in the first game. That was our mistake that we did not put them away.

“We could have put some pressure on them [by] scoring some of the chances we got. We felt we gave them two mistakes and a team like Liverpool, with the quality they have got, they kill you if you give them just a little bit.

“But we are positive because we played a strong match. If we don’t make mistakes and we put our chances away, it can turn around, the situation.

“There is still 90 minutes to go and we will be focused and ready to go again. The pressure, I would say, is more on them than us. We are the underdog so we go from behind.”

Last season, Trent Alexander-Arnold scored four and assisted 15 goals across all competitions for Liverpool but this campaign, he’s so far managed only five assists. And his poor form is a big reason why Liverpool cannot seem to find the back of the net.

On Sunday, the right-back was on the bench vs Fulham but he will surely start vs RB Leipzig on Wednesday but if Leipzig’s attackers do decide to attack him then the England international could be out of ideas once again.

Trent Alexander-Arnold put in a fine shift vs Leipzig in the first leg but since then, his form has taken a major dip and we will not be surprised if he is found wanting in midweek as well.
