Real Madrid are preparing to take on Real Sociedad in the La Liga this weekend but the international break has not brought too much positive news for Carlo Ancelotti.
David Alaba is recovering from an ACL injury and he is not yet back in action. In Alaba’s absence, Rudiger and Eder Militao were pairing up in central defence but the latter picked up a muscular injury while playing for Brazil during the international break.
Thankfully, Militao’s injury is not serious and he has trained with his Real Madrid teammates on Wednesday and he will be available for selection on Saturday. Ferland Mendy has also recovered from his Tibia problem.
The good news pretty much ends here because three midfielders are recovering from various injuries and neither of them is going to be fit in time for the trip to the Reale Arena.
Jude Bellingham is ahead of schedule in his recovery from his calf injury but like Militao, the England international has also returned to training which means he will be in line to start.
With so many midfielders ruled out, the Real Madrid manager has only three central midfielders available for the Real Sociedad game. Luka Modric and Valverde will play in the middle of the pitch while Jude Bellingham will operate in the more advanced role.
Arda Guler and summer signing Endrick can also play in the No. 10 and at least one of them will get game time on Saturday because Jude Bellingham is not going to play the full 90 minutes.
After four matchweeks, Real Madrid are currently second on the league table and they are four points behind table-toppers Barcelona.
