Leicester City star Riyad Mahrez set to join Arsenal after Barcelona have cooled their interest for the Algerian.
Riyad Mahrez was instrumental in helping the Foxes win their first ever Premier League. But it was always evident that Leicester would not be able to retain their Premier League crown. And during that point of time, many clubs across Europe wanted to sign him. And one such team was Barcelona. But somehow the deal did not go through and Mahrez had to stay back at Leicester. And this year the Foxes had a woeful season, finishing 12th in the Premier League forcing Mahrez to make an exit.
But now it looks as if Barcelona have cooled their interest in the 26-year-old, according to Spanish website Sport. Mahrez’s agent has been in contact with the Barcelona management but it looks as the Catalans have made Veratti and Bellerin their main priorities.
Owing to this the Algerian seems to have grown frustrated and now Mahrez is set to join Arsenal.
Wenger was also one of those managers who wanted to sign the player last summer. And with the player desperately wanting out now, it serves a golden opportunity for Wenger to sign him up.
Arsenal are more or less set to loose both Sanchez and Ozil in this transfer window. And in this situation, Wenger will be more than happy to sign a player who can add a bit of flair to the midfield.
