Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel is already making plans to strengthen his side for the upcoming season and he wants to bring in former Manchester United striker Romelu Lukaku during the summer, as per The Guardian.

The report claims: “Thomas Tuchel is planning a move for Romelu Lukaku as he considers how to build a dynasty at Chelsea and mould a side capable of challenging for the Premier League title next season after winning the Champions League on Saturday night.

“Inter will do all they can to keep Lukaku after signing him for £74m from Manchester United two years ago.

“The Italians will not want to make a loss on him and will first look to raise funds by selling the right-back Achraf Hakimi and the Argentina forward Lautaro Martínez.

“However, Chelsea have the financial means to test Inter’s resolve and Tuchel, who had further talks with Abramovich on Sunday, is determined to fashion an all-conquering side.”

Romelu Lukaku was a massive failure at Manchester United but ever since moving to Inter Milan, the 28-year-old has revived his career and this past season, he scored 24 goals and provided 10 assists in 36 matches for the Serie A side.

Lukaku has also spent time with Chelsea so he will not take much time to settle down at Stamford Bridge but we are not sure if Inter will be too eager to let him leave this summer.

Yes, the club are going through a lot of financial pressures right now but the Belgian international is the most important player in their squad so they will obviously look to sell him only when all other avenues have been shut.

There’s no doubt Romelu Lukaku will be a much better upgrade than Timo Werner but he is not the only player on Chelsea’s list. The names of Harry Kane and Erling Haaland have also been linked with the Blues but these centre-forwards have other suitors as well.

Clubs like Manchester United and Man City have been linked with Haaland and Kane so it will be a much more sensible choice for Thomas Tuchel to ditch these targets and make a move for Lukaku in the coming months.

The Chelsea manager is going to be backed by transfer funds this summer so paying £90-95 million for Romelu Lukaku should not be a problem for the Premier League side. Now we just have to wait and see just how much Inter Milan are demanding for their star forward – if they are ready to sell him in the first place.
