Chelsea make this 28 Y/O their primary transfer target for the summer: Can they bring him onboard?

Romelu Lukaku Chelsea

Chelsea seem to have given up hopes of signing Erling Haaland which is why The Telegraph are claiming that the Blues have shifted their focus to Inter Milan’s Romelu Lukaku.

The report claims: “Romelu Lukaku has jumped back to the top of Chelsea’s wanted list of strikers with Borussia Dortmund showing no sign of altering their not for sale stance on Erling Haaland.

“It has been a quiet summer so far for Chelsea, but head coach Thomas Tuchel is believed to be relaxed about the club’s transfer activity and has not used last season’s Champions League success as an attempt to leverage more power or transfer funds from the club.

“Tuchel wants a new striker, but with Dortmund digging in their heels over Haaland for this summer, it seems that his hopes of bringing in a big-money number nine may rest on whether or not Inter will relent over Lukaku.”

Can Chelsea sign Romelu Lukaku?

Romelu Lukaku was the star player for Inter Milan last season but the club’s financial woes mean Chelsea have a really strong chance of signing the 28-year-old centre-forward.

Inter have made it clear that they do not wish to lose another star player after Achraf Hakimi but if the Blues table a sizeable offer then the Serie A side should very well change their stance.

Chelsea seem to have come to terms with the fact that BVB will not allow the sale of Haaland this summer and this could be a blessing in disguise for the London outfit.

Romelu Lukaku scored 24 goals in 36 Serie A matches last season so Chelsea will not be compromising on talent by making a move for the Belgian international.

Also, pundits believe a transfer fee of £120 million should be enough to convince Inter Milan for a sale. And this price is much lower than what Dortmund have set for Erling Haaland.
