Chelsea have been keeping tabs on Inter Milan striker Romelu Lukaku but according to Express Sport, the Belgian international is not keen to return to the Premier League.

The exclusive report claims: “Chelsea are interested in signing Romelu Lukaku from Inter Milan this summer. However, Express Sport understands the Belgium international is happy at the San Siro and ready to stay put in order to fire his side to another Serie A title. And what the Blues decide to do next remains to be seen.

“Eurosport recently claimed that Chelsea had submitted a ‘very good’ personal offer to the player via intermediaries earlier in the summer.

“Yet Express Sport understands Lukaku is happy at Inter and isn’t planning on leaving the club this summer.

“While he was upset by the departure of Antonio Conte, he’s ready to give his all for new manager Simone Inzaghi as they look to retain their crown.”

Should Chelsea keep their focus on Romelu Lukaku?

Romelu Lukaku has revived his career with Inter Milan and during the 2020-21 season, he scored 24 goals and provided 10 assists in 36 Serie A games.

The striker would have been a cheaper alternative to Erling Haaland and at the same time, Chelsea would not have been compromising on talent too much.

Now, this new report will not be good news for the Premier League side since they were more than ready to spend the big bucks for Romelu Lukaku.

But, we doubt if Chelsea will back off even after this report since Inter Milan are in a financially unstable position right now so they could be tempted by offering a huge transfer fee.

They have already let Achraf Hakimi leave and there are rumours that the club could part ways with one or two more of their star players.

Romelu Lukaku is currently valued at £90 million so a transfer fee of around £100-10 million should be enough for Inter Milan to stand up and take notice. And given the financial might of Chelsea, they can ever easily make such an offer.
