Erling Haaland remains the first-choice striker for Chelsea in the transfer market this season but according to The Sun, the Blues are also holding talks with Inter Milan over a possible deal for Romelu Lukaku.
The Express cites The Sun: “Chelsea are in ‘hot’ talks with Inter Milan over the potential signing of Romelu Lukaku, reports say. Thomas Tuchel wants a new striker after allowing Olivier Giroud to leave.
“And while Erling Haaland is their preferred target, the Blues appear to be making contingencies behind the scenes.
“With the Borussia Dortmund star valued at £150m and with the Bundesliga giants in no mood to sell, they’re looking at alternatives.
“And The Sun say Chelsea are in ‘hot’ talks with Inter Milan over a potential deal for Lukaku.”
Will Chelsea be able to sign Romelu Lukaku?
Inter Milan are not in the best of financial shapes which is why they had to part ways with Achraf Hakimi.
But despite the financial woes, the club’s CEO Giuseppe Marotta has made it clear that Inter are not planning to lose any other big player during the ongoing transfer window.

He told Sky Sports, as quoted by Football London: “Hector Bellerin is a player we’re following… but I can’t say more.
“Alex Telles? I can’t exclude this possibility but we’re making our plans and we’ll see. We’re now planning to keep our best players after selling Hakimi.”
Romelu Lukaku has three more years left on his current deal with the Italian side and he has also hinted that he is loving life at the San Siro despite Antonio Conte moving out of the club.
But, having said all this, if Chelsea are ready to put a crazy amount on the table then there’s every chance Inter Milan will cash in on him.
Right now, Chelsea’s only focus will be Erling Haaland but Romelu Lukaku could be available for a lot cheaper than what Dortmund are quoting(150 million pounds) for the Norwegian. And this absurd price could prompt the Premier League side to shift their focus as the deadline day draws near.
Like Haaland, the Inter Milan star also had a stellar 2020-21 season, scoring 24 goals and providing 10 assists in 36 Serie A games.
