Chelsea had been chasing Romelu Lukaku for the previous few days and according to Fabrizio Romano, the deal is a Here We Go.

Inter Milan had already rejected a cash-plus-player offer for their centre-forward but rumours were ripe that the Blues will be going back with a new and improved bid.

And on Saturday, Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that Inter Milan have finally accepted a €115 million bid for the Belgian international.

He wrote on Twitter: “Romelu Lukaku to Chelsea, confirmed and here we go! The agreement is set to be completed after further talks.

“€115m to Inter and no players included. Paperworks to be signed once details are fixed.

“Lukaku will sign a long-term contract for €12m + add ons.”

Chelsea were initially trying to bring Erling Haaland onboard but Borussia Dortmund have refused to let him leave. And this is why the Blues promptly shifted their focus to Lukaku.

Inter Milan have already sold Achraf Hakimi to PSG so they were reluctant to let Lukaku leave. But their troubled financial situation has forced them to cash in on the 28-year-old as well.

This will be Lukaku’s second stint at Stamford Bridge, the first one was from 2011 to 2014 when he managed to play only 15 games for the senior side.

Romelu Lukaku had only one dull spell in England with Manchester United but he was a top goal-scoring machine for Everton, netting 87 goals in 166 matches.

During the 2020-21 season, the forward netted 24 goals in 36 Serie A matches for Inter Milan and he was one of the key reasons why Conte’s side won became the Italian champions.

Chelsea managed to strike a really smart deal for Romelu Lukaku since his current market value stands at €100 million.
