Cristiano Ronaldo has already come under fire for his behaviour this season and things are about to get a whole lot worse after his explosive interview with Piers Morgan.

Ronaldo has fallen down the pecking order under Erik ten Hag and it was pretty evident that the player is not content with playing in the Europa League. He believes he belongs in the Champions League, fighting for titles rather than working towards securing a top-four finish.

Before he arrived at Manchester United, there were heavy rumours that bitter rivals Manchester City were actually planning to bring him on board. Obviously, such blasphemy could not happen which is why many forces worked hard to bring him back to Old Trafford.

Now, in the interview with Piers Morgan, Ronaldo has come out to claim that it was Sir Alex Ferguson who demanded that he return to Man United instead of joining their ‘noisy neighbours’.

“I followed my heart,” he said(h/t Fotmob). “[Sir Alex] said to me, ‘It’s impossible for you to come to Manchester City,’ and I said, ‘Okay, Boss.’

“Since Sir Alex left, I saw no evolution in the club. The progress was zero. After sacking Ole [Gunnar Solskjaer], they bring in sport director Ralf Rangnick, which is something nobody understands. This guy is not even a coach.

“A big club like Manchester United bringing in a sporting director surprised not only me, but all the world.”

Unofficially, everyone knew SAF played a massive part in bringing Ronaldo back to the club but now, the forward has more or less admitted that Man City was his first choice.

The footballing world has been sent into a frenzy after the teaser of this interview was released but most of the Man United fans are not happy with how CR7 has decided to conduct himself during the middle of this campaign.

This part of the interview has particularly not gone down well with the fans because he’s not only admitted that he seriously thought of joining City but at the same time, he’s gone ahead and slammed his ex as well as current manager.

At one point, it was almost certain that Ronaldo was going to join Man City as he was desperate to leave Juventus but now we know for a fact that it was Sir Alex who spoiled this transfer.
