Ross Barkley wanted by Man United

West Ham United manager David Moyes could make a move for Chelsea midfielder Ross Barkley if they fail to land Jesse Lingard from Manchester United, as per 90min.

The exclusive report claims: “West Ham manager David Moyes is interested in reuniting with Ross Barkley, should the club be unable to secure a return to the London Stadium for Jesse Lingard.

“Barkley is one of a number of players who have been told they can move on[from Chelsea], owing to the incredible strength in depth in Thomas Tuchel’s squad.

“90min understands that re-signing Lingard – who enjoyed a superb loan spell at West Ham last season, scoring nine times in 16 games – remains a priority for the Hammers, but a return to east London is looking increasingly unlikely.”

Ross Barkley a good alternative to Jesse Lingard?

Lingard enjoyed a superb loan spell with the Hammers which is why David Moyes is so keen to sign him on a permanent deal.

But recent reports have suggested that the London side are really struggling to gather the funds necessary for the transfer. Also, Manchester United are ready to offer Lingard a lifeline at the club by rewarding him with a new contract.

And maybe this is why David Moyes is willing to shift his focus to Ross Barkley.

Ross Barkley is way down the pecking order at Chelsea right now so Thomas Tuchel will have no problems in letting him leave – for the right price of course.

The midfielder spent the 2020-21 season out on loan to Aston Villa, scoring three and assisting one goal in 26 Premier League games.

Ideally, Ross Barkley should cost way less than Jesse Lingard since he is completely unwanted at Chelsea but we think West Ham United should not give up hope on Jesse Lingard.

Barkley was nowhere close to the form the Manchester United midfielder showed during the second half of the previous campaign and even if there is a glimmer of hope, Moyes should try and land Lingard.
